BEing
BEing
I woke up this morning and after my meditation, my mind went to all the things I wanted to do today - clean the shower, meal prep for the week, check in with friends, see my mum, go for a walk, go to the art gallery.. the list went on!
I was able to stop myself from the cascade of ‘doings’ and asked myself, “how do I want to BE today?”. The answers probably won’t surprise you - moving slowly with presence, grateful, curious and open hearted. Of course the answer may change on any given day, depending on your mood, energy levels, day of the week etc., however stepping beyond the doings and thoughts is what allows us to be more process orientated and non attached to the specific timings and outcomes of things.
Practicing Vedic Meditation makes us experts at this. There is no doing, no focusing, no concentrating. We step beyond thought, settle down to our least excited state and allow the natural tendencies of the mind and body to do what they need to do while we just BE. The body will release the accumulated stress, the mind will wander… and that’s ok, it is this process that is key, rather than judging the meditation as good or bad. When we establish ourselves in this BEing state in Vedic Meditation, we have greater awareness and presence when ‘doing’. More of us is available in the moment, rather than our doings being laden with stress chemistry . The BEing-ness comes first leading to greater awareness, presence and fulfilment in every given moment.
So, how do you want to BE today?
